Entry + Family Room
A series of small, disconnected rooms was reimagined to create a more balanced, open flow between the family room, kitchen, and dining spaces. Removing a wall and restoring the entry to its original location opened a clear path through the home to the pool deck, creating an easy connection between indoor living and the Key West outdoor lifestyle.
Before

Small bedroom containing water heater and AC unit, long narrow hallway.
After

Open family room with sectional sofa, art wall, repositioned entry.
-
An undersized bedroom had limited usefulness, with its closet also housing the A/C unit and water heater.
-
A narrow hallway separated the front den from the kitchen and pool, making the living spaces feel disconnected.
-
Multiple walls restricted light and sightlines, creating a long, tunnel-like passage through the center of the home.
-
The main entry opened directly into the kitchen, taking up valuable dining space and relying on an inward-swinging door that was not hurricane impact-rated.
What wasn't working
How we made more possible
-
Reworked the layout to connect the front family room with the kitchen and pool, improving flow and sightlines through the home.
-
Concealed the A/C unit and water heater within built-in storage, turning previously awkward utility space into a cleaner, more functional wall.
-
Used the room’s height for vertical storage and art display, making better use of the small footprint.
-
A sectional sofa to created a comfortable gathering area without overwhelming the room.
-
Created a defined entry landing zone with hooks and a small table for everyday essentials.
-
Replaced the original door with a hurricane impact-rated entry door.
